Evidence-based treatment of anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to find out whether evidence-based treatment of anorexia nervosa is possible. This evaluation requires identifying and appraising relevant research findings, the studies of most interest being randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which different interventions are compared.

Six-month open trial of haloperidol as an adjunctive treatment for anorexia nervosa: a preliminary report

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the effectiveness of haloperidol in treating anorexia nervosa. The authors, analyzing results from a 6 month study, conclude that low doses of haloperidol is effective in treating patients with severe anorexia nervosa.

Olanzapine treatment of anorexia nervosa: a retrospective study

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effectiveness of olanzapine in treating anorexia nervosa. The authors maintain patients taking olanzapine reported a reduction in anxiety, difficulty in eating, and major eating disorder symptoms.
