Familial backgrounds and risk behaviours of youth with thrownaway experiences
Article Abstract:
The experience of being required to leave home by homeless teenagers was studied in a nationally representative sample of youth living in youth shelters and in a purposive sample of street adolescents in 10 cities. Findings showed that youth having such an experience were more likely to have attempted suicide, used marijuana and other drugs except cocaine, and have been implicated in the drug trade. Also, such youth usually have family members who used illegal drugs and they spent at least one night away from home because of abuse or neglect, family disagreements and familial substance abuse.

Secrets and security: knowledge and the confinement of adolescents
Article Abstract:
Adolescents in a psychiatric unit go through four patterns of crisis, ambivalent, avoidant, chaotic and rigid. Demands for security and demands or search for information characterizes all the crisis patterns. The information transferred describes the relationship of the adolescent with the important adults in his or her life. Each crisis pattern is an attempt to change the adolescent's relationship with these significant others. Crisis patterns are elucidated with the help of case descriptions.

Parent-child agreement on children's behaviours reported by the child behavior checklist (CBCL)
Article Abstract:
Parent and child agreement ratings on the Child Behaviour Checklist were examined. Data gathering was done over a period of three years with a large sample of referred adolescents. Results showed that externalizing item agreements were higher than internalizing items and that male concordance increased with age. No differences were noted on parent-child agreement between boys and girls.
