Familiarity and heritability of binge eating disorder: results of a case-control family study and a twin study

Article Abstract:

A study exploring the contribution of genetic factors in aggregating binge eating disorder (BED) in families is presented. Data from a case-control family study of BED conducted in the Boston area was compared to the population-based study of Norwegian twins providing strong evidence that BED aggregates in families and additive genetic effects are responsible.
