Article Abstract:
The new version of Fig. P, a presentation software, has minor but significant improvements. It has an expanded memory and a maths co-processor as well as a pull-down menu to assure new users. The editing facilities is considered basic although the new spreadsheet data editor allows movement of data within the program and with other compatible worksheet programs. Figure production has three levels which allows mixing of figures within a page or lining up of figures for a print output. The manual was also rewritten which includes easier to follow and more logical instructional parts.

OPAL Module: neural communication
Article Abstract:
The Open Programs for Associative Learning (OPAL) is a useful tool for teaching cell biology in schools. The system's Neural Communication module is a comprehensive program which includes topics such as electrophysiology and synaptc transmission. Aside from being easy to install, OPAL provides easy access to all windows and links between the modules. However, it can only be used with a 386 computer with VGA graphics and at least 2 megabytes of memory space.

Demonstrations of 'Auditory Scene Analysis: The Perceptual Organization of Sound.' (CD-ROM companion to book of the same title)
Article Abstract:
The demonstration CD that accompanies the book entitled 'Auditory Scene Analysis: The Perceptual Organization of Sounds' by Albert Bregman and Pierre Ahad contains enjoyable and educational material that should interest musicians, cognitive psychologists and neuroscientists. The CD is an excellent complement to the book. Among its outstanding demonstrations are the conversion of two concurrent sounds into a woman's voice and one on African xylophone music.
