First sexual intercourse: anticipation and communication. Interviews with young people in England

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that communication is a crucial factor in the instance of first sexual intercourse among young people, with communication contributing towards the anticipation level and the level to which intercourse is protected, wanted and enjoyed. Non-verbal communication also has a significant role, particularly when spontaneous first interecourse is silent. Post-intercourse communication can be difficult when one of the partners is ambivalent about sex, although embarrassed silence can cause some individuals to be at risk of unprotected or unwanted sex.

Bulimia and the diffusion status of ego identity formation: similarities of the empirical descriptors of self and parent

Article Abstract:

Empirical literature shows similarities between bulimics and adolescents who are identity diffused on variables of personality characteristics, interpersonal styles and family descriptors. These lead to testable hypotheses of whether both bulimia and identity diffusion are caused due to similar interpersonal processes within the family, whether bulimia is a product of identity diffusion, and whether bulimia is a trait or a state. A study of the above may provide new treatment perspectives, sources of symptoms, and advancement of research on bulimia.
