Grasping the nature of pictures
Article Abstract:
Studies were performed to understand the infant's attempts to grasp objects and pictures in a book. The manual exploration behavior of children towards pictures was being linked to manner by which they handle actual objects. Results showed that infants were unable to distinguish depictions from real objects. The development of the picture concept in children helped them understand the two-dimensional feature representation of contexts. Acquisition of picture concept developed pictorial competence.
