How inaccurate is the Abercombie correction for cell counts?
Article Abstract:
Abercrombie correction factor gives an estimate of cell number by transforming raw counts of cell nuclei or nuclei pieces into numbers of nuclei. Richard Coggeshall's criticism of the method created doubts about the validity of the old device, which is still enjoying widespread popularity within the academic community. Ananalysis of the correction factor reveals that errors attributed to the method remain negligible provided a cell's section thickness exceeds the maximum nuclear height by a factor of 1.5.
