Multicultural applications of cognitive-behavior therapy
Article Abstract:
Psychologists avoid the added complications which they perceive would result if they factor cultural differences into their interactions with clients. However, cognitive-behavior therapy may benefit from considering ethnic background in devising treatment programs. Psychologists may learn to recognize specific cases of attitudinal limitations due to cultural biases felt by the client, or they may create treatment programs that take advantage of cultural strengths such as coping strategies or the existence of support groups.

The consultant's role when the analyst terminates therapy
Article Abstract:
A consultant can help reduce the negative impact on patients and therapists when the analyst terminates the therapy. Therapists may move, decide they can no longer help a particular patient, or become involved in a countertransference reaction resulting from the patient's and their own vulnerability. Both therapists and patients can suffer from the severed relationship, although patients are likely to suffer more trauma. The consultant can help manage the processes of separation and resolution.
