Phospholipase A2, and G proteins
Article Abstract:
Phospholipase A2 is a receptor-mediated effector enzyme which is activated by the release of GTP proteins. Arachidonic acid and metabolites are secondary messengers to this phenomenon since they are released by G proteins. Phospholipase A2 and G proteins could be studied through analysis of the thyroid cell line FRTL5, where thyrotropic stimulating hormone stimulated the growth of cells that released arachidonic acid and inositol phosphates.
