Plasma homocysteine levels in female patients with eating disorders

Article Abstract:

The levels of plasma homocysteine, vitamin [B.sub.12], and folate in females with restricting and bingeing/purging eating disorders (EDs) are examined. The results have shown that the plasma homocysteine levels were increased in adult and older adolescent female ED patients when compared to controls.

Prognostic value of duration of illness and early intervention in bulimia nervosa: a systematic review of the outcome literature

Article Abstract:

Issues relating to early intervention in the treatment of chronic eating disorder are discussed. In a review of outcome literature, early intervention is regarded in the treatment of bulimia nervosa and it is concluded that this does not necessarily imply an improved long-term result.

Effect of inositol on bulimia nervosa and binge eating

Article Abstract:

Research examining the therapeutic values od inositol on individuals suffering from bulimia is presented. Particular attention is given to comparative studies between the effects of inositol and placebo on bulimic patients. The superiority of inositol is emphasized.
