Psychopathic and nonpsychopathic inmates differ from normal controls in tolerance levels of electrical stimulation

Article Abstract:

A study applied Tursky electrodes to the forearms of a sample of psychopathic inmates, a sample of nonpsychopathic inmates and a normal control group. The inmate groups had no discernable differences in pain tolerance thresholds while the tolerance thresholds were lower for controls. These results contradict previous theories and research. Possible explanations include differential learning and pain experience and the interactions of testosterone, extraversion, dominance and criminality.

Personality patterns of male felons in a correctional halfway house setting: an MMPI typological analysis

Article Abstract:

A clustering method was used to analyze the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) profiles of 184 male felons according to personality type. All of the subjects were living in a halfway house and were between 19 and 60 years old. Their legal status was divided among state parole, federal pre-release and state furlough groups. The study derived eight separate personality groups with significant differences for age, prior felony convictions and prior imprisonment.

Personality disorder correspondence among the MMPI, MBHI, and MCMI

Article Abstract:

A study shows an absence of any important differences on the mean scale z-scores among the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, Millon Behavioral Health Inventory and Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory personality disorder scales. It also implies convergent validity among the personality scales at the level of the group data.
