Psychophysical design influences frequency discrimination performance in young children

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted in order to investigate how different psychophysical procedures affect frequency discrimination performance in children. The results reveal that the two-interval, forced-choice procedure which is widely used in studies of developmental disorders led to variable performance even in adults and did not give a realistic picture of the perceptual capabilities of children under 8 years of age.

Inviting witnesses to speculate: effects of age and interaction on children's recall

Article Abstract:

The investigative interviewers who invite children to speculate run the risk of eliciting false answers even in elementary school children, is analyzed. It is concluded that speculation may be a useful and valuable technique in a therapeutic setting in which the veracity of a statement is not necessarily the main premise and speculation did not affect free and cued recall differentially.

Infants' perception of illusory contours in static and moving figures

Article Abstract:

The perception of illusory contours in a Kanizsa figure was investigated in infants of 3-8 months. A preference for illusory contours to non-illusory contours in both static and non-static figures was seen and it was additionally observed that the infants' perception of illusory contours was augmented by motion information.
