Refugees' convoy of social support: community peer groups and mental health services

Article Abstract:

The factors responsible for shaping a survivors' use of mental health services and the benefits of community peer groups is studied using the experiences of 36 people who survived war and torture. The survivors displayed satisfaction with the community peer groups and preferred the establishment of a support group consisting of only the war and torture survivors.

Comparing implementing the transformation to quality mental health system in England and the United States with recommendations for areas of international shared learning and collaboration

Article Abstract:

The key developments in the evolution of the mental health system in England and the organization of the English health and mental health systems are described, and important elements of the system are summarized. The English and the US mental health systems are compared, and the similarities and differences in them are highlighted.

The evolution of mental health/illness services

The history of mental health/illness service delivery is described. The activities of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in dealing with the problems in mental health treatment are highlighted.
