Report of the Committee on Physician-Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia
Article Abstract:
The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) created the Committee on Physician-Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia in 1994 to review the issues related to the intensifying debate over physician-assisted suicide, euthanasia, palliative care and the treatment of dying patients. Among other findings, the Committee finds it inappropriate, at present, for the AAS to support any particular position on the debate. The Committee also finds no justification for a legislated solution to the present situation. Areas for further research, analysis and discussion are suggested.
