Sensitive mother-to-adolescent disclosures after divorce: is the experience of sons different from that of daughters?

Article Abstract:

The issues of whether or not, adolescent sons and daughters, exposed to sensitive maternal disclosures after divorce with similar frequency and in similar detail, is addressed. The quantitative analyses revealed that although the majority of adolescents experience some level of maternal disclosure, neither frequency nor detail of maternal disclosure differed as a function of adolescent gender.

Emotional exchange in mother-child dyads: stability, mutual influence, and associations with maternal depression and child problem behavior

Article Abstract:

The influence of maternal depression and child problem behavior on the stability on the child's social development and emotional exchange is examined. The results show that mothers with history of or current depressive symptoms showed reduced positive expression, which affected the child's later emotional expression.

Validity of video-mediated recall procedures for mother's emotion and child ratings

Article Abstract:

The article evaluates the video-mediated recall (VR) to measure mothers' emotion and appraisals of children's behavior. The results supported construct validity of the averaged video-mediated measures.
