Social stress in squirrel monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis peruviensis) differentially affects placental transfer of maternal antibody to male and female infants
Article Abstract:
This article examines the effects of stress on the placental transfer of Immunoglobulin G in squirrel monkeys. Results indicate that mothers who experienced chronic disturbances gave birth to male infants with lower levels of Immunoglobulin G while female infants had significantly elevated levels of the maternal antibody.
