Spelling-sound consistency effects in disyllabic word naming
Article Abstract:
The process by which phonological representation of disyllabic words are derived from print is studied with a view to extending current models of word recognition beyond their present focus on monosyllabic words to multisyllabic words. The results suggest that a basic feature of phonological processing is spelling-sound consistency and this has important implications for the development of word recognition theory.

Where is the syllable priming effect in visual word recognition?
Article Abstract:
The syllable priming effect was reassessed using French stimuli in an attempt to resolve the controversy surrounding this hypothesis. The results of the four experiments conducted failed to reveal the syllable priming effect observed in some of the earlier studies leading to the conclusion that it is not a reliable empirical effect.

Word length effects in object naming: the role of a response criterion
Article Abstract:
The question of speech onset latencies depending on the length of the planned words and the interaction between length effect and the effect of stimulus blocking are examined. It is concluded that in pure and mixed blocks, the speakers used different response deadlines.
