Spousal esteem
Article Abstract:
Esteem held for a spouse negatively covaries with spousal personality characteristics linked with cost-infliction, according to the findings of research designed to test the theory that spousal esteem and disparagement are psychological conditions that mirror the costs and benefits of marriage to an individual. The research identified some evidence for the assumption that physical esteem of spouse would not covary with undesirable personality traits to the extent that judgments of physical attractiveness are quite independent of interpersonal cost-infliction.

A longitudinal investigation of stress spillover in marriage: does spousal support adequacy buffer the effects?
Article Abstract:
A study to examine spousal support adequacy as a potential moderator of stress spillover in marriage using a stress-buffering model of individual well-being is conducted. Results show that greater escalations in husbands and wives' role strain are associated with less marital declines for wives and that these links are bolstered when husbands provided wives with more adequate support.
