The Family Project Approach
Article Abstract:
The Family Project Approach operates under the philosophy that helping adolescents with behavioural or family problems within the family setting is preferable to residential care. The therapist's attitude is a vitally important part of the approach. The therapist has to avoid perceiving their role as protection of the child, with the parents as the problem. They should view the parents as partners in the therapy process, respect their expertise and opinions, and take time to build up their self-esteem and understanding of parental responsibilities.

Family images of borderline adolescents
Article Abstract:
Attributions found in families of borderline personality disorder (BPD) adolescents are investigated. Findings show that BPD adolescents rate themselves as significantly more alienated from their families compared with non-BPD adolescents. However, parents of BPD adolescents do not see their children as especially alienated. This indicates that parents of BPD adolescents hold their adolescents responsible for unwanted behaviors while the latter view their difficulty as an intrafamilial problem.
