The Social Phobia Inventory: Validity and reliability in an adolescent community sample

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted with a primary objective of contributing to the literature by examining the validity and reliability of a self-report measure, the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN), in a community sample of adolescents. Results of the examination revealed strong support for the temporal stability, internal consistency and construct validity of the SPIN, suggesting it was an appropriate screening measure for assessing social anxiety disorder in adolescents.

Concurrent and predictive validity of the psychopathy checklist: Youth version across gender and ethnicity

Article Abstract:

The Psychopathy Checklist: Youth Version (PCL:YV) based on the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) was designed to measure adolescent psychopathy and early findings have proved its usefulness in characterizing personality and behavioral traits among youths. The extent to which the PCL:YV is valid across gender and ethnicity is uncertain and it is suggested that it should be used with caution when evaluating risks in different groups.

Social phobia in youth: The diagnostic utility of feared social situations

Article Abstract:

The utility of parent- and child- reported social fears for reaching a diagnosis of social phobia in youth is evaluated by examining the diagnostic utility of the number of fears and specific feared social situations. Analysis indicates that 4 parent-endorsed social fears optimally distinguish youth with and without social phobia, but child-reported social fears are recorded.
