The Unacceptability of Money as a Gift
Article Abstract:
According to economic theory, money is a universal medium. It can be used for any transaction. In primitive societies, many taboos exist surrounding the medium of exchange. This study concentrates on the acceptability of using money as a gift from child to parent. Four separate surveys support the idea. Several explanations for why money gifts are not appropriate are examined.
