The diagnostic interview schedule for children (DISC-2.1) in Spanish: reliability in a hispanic population
Article Abstract:
Reliability is usually greater with externalizing disorders than with internalizing disorders on the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children (DISC-2.1) used on a Hispanic population. These levels of reliability are compared between clinic and community samples, and between younger and older children. While parent's reports are more reliable than those of children, this difference is not seen with older children. Reliability is also greater when the second interviewer is a psychiatrist rather than a lay interviewer.

Gender disparities in mental health service use of Puerto Rican children and adolescents
Article Abstract:
The factors accounting for gender differences in mental health service utilization in order to develop alternatives to promote equity in service delivery is studied and identified. Findings reveal a service disparity between impaired boys and girls who did not meet criteria for a DSM IV diagnosis, but no observed difference in service use between boys and girls who met criteria for severe emotional disturbance (SED).
