The effects of prior knowledge on children's memory and suggestibility

Article Abstract:

Two independent factors, namely, prestory knowledge and poststory suggestions are crossed to examine their effects on children's story recall. The results show that prestory social knowledge about the story protagonist as well as academic knowledge relating to the content of the story influences the accuracy of children's recall immediately after the story presentation.

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between motor sequencing and reading ability among children with learning disabilities. The authors, analyzing data from a study of 422 children between ages 7 and 11, found no evidence that poor reading is associated with a domain general deficit in sequential learning.
