The learning curve for writing books: evidence from Professor Asimov
Article Abstract:
Professor IsaacAsimov's writing career was used as a model to plot the shape of the learning curve. Asimov wrote regularly producing about 500 books in more than 40 years. A graph showing the accumulated number of Asimov's books as a function of the time he finished them follows a power law curve. Plotting the logarithmic coordinates show that Asimov's performance reached the asymptote or the limit beyond which improvement in performance is physically or logically impossible.

Organization in the perception of speech by young infants
Article Abstract:
The organization in speech perception was tested in infants 3 to 4 months old using synthetic speech patterns presented dichotically such that third-formant transition for the syllable da or ga is received in one ear and the remaining acoustic informationfor syllabic presentation is received by the other ear. Results show that younginfants can integrate information from two distal sources and from different directions into unified coherent precepts of a phonetic nature.
