The relationship between theory of mind and episodic memory: evidence for the development of autonoetic consciousness

Article Abstract:

The connection between theory of mind abilities and episodic memory was investigated involving autonoetic consciousness, in Japanese 4- to 6-year olds. It was demonstrated that rather than every false belief measure being correlated with episodic memory, it was more likely only a particular kind of theory of mind ability was integrated with episodic memory.

Dissociations between implicit and explicit memory in children: the role of strategic processing and the knowledge base

Article Abstract:

The dissociation in the development of implicit and explicit memory between the age of 3 years and adulthood is re-examined. Contrary to earlier theories, it is concluded that the dissociation reflects differences in strategy use and metamemory across childhood and that development of a child's knowledge base would aid the development of implicit memory.
