The use and abuse of consumer credit: application of psychological theory and research

Article Abstract:

The behavior of credit card users is analyzed, and a psychological framework is used to identify the ability or inability to use credit effectively. Appropriate predictor variables are identified, and results show that psychological variables can moderately identify people with credit problems. Although external circumstances can sometimes cause credit card abuse, it is the absence of control over one's financial situation that gives rise to credit problems.

Article Abstract:

Perceived value of proposed coinage in the United Kingdom is tested for acceptance. A strong link was observed between size and value, perhaps as a result of experience. Preference was expressed for heavy, significantly edged coins, with seven-sided coins preferred over circular coins.
