Theresa O'Hanley, persona non grata
Article Abstract:
Patients with borderline personality disorder are highly sensitive to rejection by both inpatient and outpatient caretakers. Many psychiatric hospitals keep a list of former patients who are to be barred from future admission under any circumstances. There is evidence that rejection by a psychiatric institution may play a significant role in a patient's subsequent decision to commit suicide. This can be illustrated by examining the case of Theresa O'Hanley, who committed suicide after repeatedly unsuccessful psychiatric consultations.

Robert Salter: attempted suicide by jumping from a high bridge
Article Abstract:
A case study involving the elimination of mental depression after a serious suicide attempt is analyzed. In this case, a first-year law student Robert Salter decided to commit suicide by jumping off from a 200 ft-high bridge. After saving himself, Salter expressed shame over his actions. However, he thought that he felt much more better psychologically after his attempt. The views of two psychiatrists on the said case are presented.
