Using diary methods to study marital and family processes
Article Abstract:
The applications of diary designs in marital and family research are reviewed and the types of research questions that can uniquely be asked of family diary data are discussed. The unresolved issues and directions for future research in the use of diary methods for studying marital and family processes are also investigated.

Qualitative research and family psychology

Qualitative approaches offer family psychologists that includes, theory building and hypothesis testing, rich descriptions of family phenomena, close analyses of texts, and items for various types of measurement tools and surveys. These constitute an important component of multimethod social research.
