Using the eating disorder examination to identify the specific psychopathology of binge eating disorder

Article Abstract:

Less is known about the clinical features of binge eating disorder (BED) compared to anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN). A sample of BED patient data was compared with data from AN and BN patients and normal weight and obese controls who were administered the Eating Disorders Examination (EDE). The status of BED as an eating disorder is supported and the observed elevated EDE scores reflect the impact of being overweighted and having disordered behaviors concerning eating, shape and weight.

Intended and unintended effects of an eating disorder educational program: Impact of presenter identity

The extent to which presenter identity could influence the outcome of an eating disorder educational program was examined. Two videotaped discussions about eating disorders were viewed by high school students and their responses underline the importance of investigating the unintended effects of eating disorder educational programs before implementing them to ensure that their efficacy is not compromised.
