Yours, mine, and ours: facilitating group productivity through the integration of individual and group goals

Article Abstract:

There has been much documentation on the goal-performance relationship for individual and group activities. There are mixed results on the effectiveness of individual goals in improving team performance. The variance may be because of task and goal characteristics. Sixty groups are used to study the function of different goal structures on a a nonsummative task.

Domain-specific knowledge and task characteristics in decision making

Article Abstract:

The impact of task characteristics on the decision making of high and low knowledge individuals are studied. It is shown high knowledge individuals are more accurate in well-structured tasks and when descriptive labels are present, while decision structure or descriptive labeling have no effect on low knowledge individuals.

Effects of training goals and goal orientation traits on multidimensional training outcomes and performance adaptability

Article Abstract:

Research investigating the effects of performance versus mastery training goals is presented. Particular attention is given to traits of performance goal orientation in the outcomes of training, on the basis of an experiment involving sixty individuals learning computer simulation.
