Fifty years of experience in making Grey Literature available: matching the expectations of the particle physics community

Article Abstract:

The experiences of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in disseminating Grey Literature over fifty years are recounted and its success in meeting the requirements of the particle physics community are described. While 95% of the particle physics literature is available electronically, it is suggested that the scientific communication revolution will start only when the scientific community moves beyond the limitations inherent in paper publishing.

Towards a genealogy of grey literature via Newton's journals

Article Abstract:

Question is addressed whether grey literature is blind to the review process from a historical perspective, taking the case of Sir Isaac Newton as an example. Newton's various manuscripts passed through a number of hands and over the course of time, many of the papers found their way into university collections, but much of the material became scattered and confused along the way.
