Can stock photography feed the machine?
Article Abstract:
Multimedia manufacturers such as CD-ROM publishers have turned to clip art rather than stock photography because of the abundance of cheap images available for scanning and altering. Publishers believe that their business has less respect and interest in any specific image than in images that can be changed, morphed, or altered to fill up time in an interactive book or game. Stock houses still charge an exorbitant amount for their images, but if the volume increases in multimedia publishing, stock companies will begin to change the price structure.

"Beyond the Wall" and "Passages to Vietnam." (CD-ROM) (Software Review)(Evaluation)
Article Abstract:
Two CD-ROMs, "Beyond the Wall" and "Passages to Vietnam," allow the user to wander through the database, clicking on images, sounds, and personalities of the Vietnam War. "Beyond the Wall" initially presents three choices for the user: discovering data about the battles, the soldiers, or the memorial. It contains substantial information such as letters, photos, and video clips. "Passages to Vietnam," which is organized into six sections ranging from social issues in America to the legacy of the war, presents more than 400 photographs.
