Frank Gehry's wonder years

Article Abstract:

Frank Gehry does the first draft of every project his firm takes on. He tends toward the modern because he feels that harsh reality makes one want to live in the present and respond to clients. He only designs houses for close friends, sending other requests for houses to Charlie Gwathmey, because of the handholding time involved. Current projects include a commemoration of the potter George Orr, buildings at MIT and Case, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. He won the Pritzker Prize in 1989.
