Wang Xu is one of the best known graphic designers in China. He began with calligraphy and worked making labels for a manufacturer. A lecture by Walter Landor in 1979 opened his eyes to advertising graphics, and he studied issues of Graphis. In Hong Kong he studied and attended lectures, as well as putting out his own small magazine, Design Exchange. He returned to Guangzhou and opened his own design business. His designs begin with logos and Chinese characters. He has also published 13 books.
