Applying the creative flame
Article Abstract:
Graphic arts designers Franco Achilli, Mario Piazza, and Guglielmo Ghizzardi, of the Italian firm Achilli & Piazza e Associati, feel their design philosophy reduces to a mix of functionality and innovation. The designers strive for achieving a unique expression of ideas for their clients while at the same time remaining grounded in an overall structurally solid design. The designers feel their success in applying the creative process to their graphic artwork is attributed to being both flexible and ready to innovate as they approach each project.

Designing from skin to screen
Article Abstract:
Mexican-born graphic arts designer Rebeca Mendez attributes her reliance on sensual scanned imagery to the mental world she inhabited when she first came to the US at age 17 and did not know English. Mendez is perhaps best known for transforming the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA, where she went to school, from a stodgy institution to a graphically innovative one. She developed a piece of fragmented image choreography based on scanned images of her own body called 'Cyberstroke.'
