Coop Himmelblau

Article Abstract:

Vienna, Austria-based architecture firm Coop Himmelblau was founded in the 1960s by Wolf D. Prix and Helmut Swiczinsky, and Frank Stepper became a partner in 1991. The firm's name, which roughly translates as Blue Sky Co-op, refers to the architects' use of imagination to make designs that are as changeable and light as clouds. Coop Himmelblau's free-spirited designs consciously attempt to overcome social and cultural norms.
