Soujourn of the Soho journal

Article Abstract:

SoHo Partnership staged the SoHo Journal 1995-1996 exhibition at the Nolan/ Eckman Gallery in New York to help the homeless. The exhibition, which was designed by Gary Koepke, consists of blown-up Journal pages arranged according to nine artistically coded themes. Quotations from famous writers accompany art contributions from the SoHo artist community in the page displays. SoHo Partnership is a community organization that works to rehabilitate homeless people and provides services to improve community life.

Behind Raphaele's double vision

Article Abstract:

Advertising artist Raphaele began her career in 1974 in Houston, TX, with a fascination for digital transparencies and a partner, Gordon Wood, who was knowledgeable in atomic physics. Together they have done renowned commercials for companies such as Texaco, Walt Disney, and Anheuser Busch. Two of their most famous commercials manipulated reality: a smiling car for Texaco; and for Anheuser Busch three women with skin wrapped in the Budweiser beer logo.

Magazine panel discussion at SVA: drawing lines between editors & ADs

Article Abstract:

The School of Visual Arts hosted a panel discussion among art directors and editors that focused on the issue of collaborative design efforts. The panel consisted of leaders in the publishing industry who have had experience in both design and editorial content. Other issues the panel addressed included what type of collaboration was best and what type of relationship should exist between images and words.
