Self-censorship as self-defense

Article Abstract:

Some 50 television news journalists work in a perilous existence in Colombia's 14 media outlets, even though the number of journalists killed annually in Colombia is on the decline, the decrease in attacks against journalists reflects a custom of self-censorship, especially in the country's interior. With the widespread climate of impunity that exists, journalists in Colombia would continue to practice self-censorship to protect themselves.
