1997 expansion forecast: more go-go global growth
Article Abstract:
Forecasts of corporate facility construction in 1997 reveal a growth trend of over 10% increase in worldwide new facilities and expansion. A survey of corporate real estate executives and projection studies by the Site Selection staff showed that the 23% growth rate of corporate facilities construction in 1996 will continue in 1997. Facilities construction will be spurred by forecasts of modest inflation and the opening of the global market. The relaxation of the tax policies in many regions will also increase the rate of plant or facilities construction.

These technologies, which include microtunneling, pipe bursting and cured-in-place lining, are non-intrusive tools which allow faster infrastructure improvements. They are complemented by intelligent transportation systems which use satellite-based vehicle tracking and electronic control to prevent traffic congestion.
