A gallop across the brownfields
Article Abstract:
St Modwen Properties is regarded very positively by analysts, despite its small size and the fact that Chmn Stan Clarke has a large shareholding. It has been particularly successful in transforming derelict inner-city sites into profitable schemes, linking with around 30 other companies. It has gained a strong reputation for delivery and accounting to local councils and other partners. One of its most profitable partnerships is with the local council in Stoke-on-Trent, England, where it has four schemes underway.

Which way forward for Land Securities?
Article Abstract:
UK property company Land Securities is attracting considerable attention in the run-up to the maiden statement by Chmn Peter Birch and the announcement of 1999 financial results. Investors are eager to obtain information about the company's likely future direction. They believe that Birch has several choices, including spinning off parts of the portfolio to be managed by others and significantly increasing the flow of investment deals. Some observers are concerned that the company's caution will restrict growth.
