After Latham - will clients be the prizewinners?
Article Abstract:
The UK construction and real estate industry should focus on the needs of clients with an emphasis on quality as well as price. A report by Michael Latham places emphasis on clients from the public sector, but private sector clients are becoming increasingly important. Construction costs can be reduced, the report argues, and this would give more space for the same investment. Greater standardisation in designs can help cut costs in addition to productivity on site.
