The UK Private Finance Initiative, whereby private companies will finance, design, build and run public facilities, with public institutions purchasing services, is aimed at offering value for money and transferring risk to the provider of services from the user. Risks will be shared between the public sector client and the private sector developer, with the developer being paid a fee related to the risk involved.

Communities need to help homeless schizophrenic people and their families. The stigma about mental disease should be replaced with society-wide understanding. Group homes would provide a safe and structured environment for mental patients who leave the hospital. The legal rights of these patients need to be protected, and social workers and doctors should renew their commitment to helping them.

Route 66 became the first paved highway connecting the Midwest to the Pacific Coast in 1926. Only about 80% of the original road still exists. Driving on the old road offers a number of sightseeing opportunities not available on the larger highways.
