Changing house rules
Article Abstract:
The UK's Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 gives the property leaseholder the right to exchange it for a freehold providing that its rateable value is at least 750 pounds sterling outside London, England. Case evidence shows that the method of calculating rateable value appears to differ from case to case. Freeholder purchasers should refer to past experience on similar cases to argue for a better deal in court.
