Article Abstract:

Motor vehicle manufacturers are applying new management strategies to cope with international competition and trends. The general trend for automakers has been to tap developing markets in Latin America and Asia by constructing oversees manufacturing plants in the said region. General Motors is scheduled to open its new $1.6 billion plant in Shanghai, China as a joint venture with a local manufacturer. Fiat, Ford, and Nissan, on the other hand, are investing to upgrade their existing plants in Spain to improve efficiency levels to European standards.
