Article Abstract:

There are still relatively few women working in the UK property industry. Research indicates that women in the property industry are likely to receive a lower salary than their male counterparts, will have less responsibility and will have only limited access to senior management positions. Women feel that there is still a male-dominated atmosphere in the property industry, and those who wish to have a family find that employers are not very flexible.

The failure of 45% of the planning authorities in the United Kingdom to follow the government's guidelines on the provision of affordable housing is discussed. The lack of consistency in the policies of local authorities is considered.
