Globalizing: real estate payoffs and perils

Article Abstract:

Globalization has necessitated changes in the methods international businesses used in managing their real estate. Firms must possess a general strategy on how to manage their assets since real estate comprises about 25%of a firm's total resources. A report from the International Development Research Council reveals that businesses make use of 'two-track' global plans which neglect the real estate component of business. Other methods to address the problem, such as the 'shared service model' and 'return on capital employed', have been devised to address the problem.
