Ohio speeds ahead to win '94 U.S. facility-location race

Article Abstract:

Ohio led the 50-state race for best improved economy in 1994 by posting 911 new and expanded facilities, 400 more than closest rival North Carolina's 539 facilities. Ohio also led in the location of new manufacturing sites with 229 and also led in new facilities and expansions for the period 1992-1994. Site Selection reported a total of 5, 193 new US corporate facilities in 1994, almost 25% more than the 1993 figure. The trend is expected to continue in 1995.

Coca-Cola, Ford and Motorola: 1994's corporate location leaders

Article Abstract:

Coca-Cola Co., Ford Motor Co. and Motorola Inc. topped 1994 facility investment activity rankings. Coca-Cola and Ford both had 17 facilities while Motorola had 14. The strong standing of the three companies mirrored the rapid growth of the forest products, automobile and electronics sectors in 1994. North America remained the favorite location although considerable investments were also made in Europe and the Asia-Pacific.
