Is there a link between electricity and cancer?
Article Abstract:
The strength of public opinion may have a determining effect on the issue of electromagnetic forces causing cancer despite the lack of substantiated evidence. Low level electromagnetic fields (EMF) which occur in nature and in objects such as microwaves are mostly harmless, but there is concern at the level of EMF produced from overhead power cables. Researchers found that children living in the vicinity of power lines had a 1.5 times increased likelihood of contracting leukemia, yet a causal linkage was not detected. Some householders exposed to high EMF have received compensation payments.
