King of the catwalk

Article Abstract:

King Street in Manchester, England, is being developed into an important centre for fashion resulting in increasing rents and the closure of non-fashion shops. Some designers have chosen to move into lesser known areas in the hope that customers will be attracted by their name, whilst the design company Red or Dead chose to move into King Street for a record rent of 170 pounds sterling per sq foot. The Arndale centre has undergone a program of renovation and only 1% of unit remain empty. The demand for retail outlets has lead to the transformation of offices into shops.

What future for a used automaton?

Article Abstract:

Automated warehouse facilities in the UK are initially very expensive to develop but savings can be made as they constantly operate throughout the day and night and staff costs are also reduced. It is predicated that money saved from the payment of staff will pay for an automated building within five years. Second-hand automated warehouses may be difficult to relet although some observers suggest that they could be adapted to suit most requirements. Automated warehouses are most suited to businesses that use full pallets of goods such as in the retail industry.

Are you being served?

Article Abstract:

There is a severe lack of distribution land in and around London, England, and this means that occupiers are having to look at areas they may not otherwise have considered. Miller Developments is accelerating work at Thurrock Distribution Park, offering alternatives to Crossways at Dartford, England, while up to 27,870 sq mt of industrial and warehousing development is available at Beddington Cross in Croydon, England. However, there is still a lack of larger spaces, and some occupiers are now looking much further afield.
