Neighbourhood rivals

Article Abstract:

The demand for retail outlets in Bath, England, is buoyant, with few vacant stores available. Prime rents have reached 204 pounds sterling per sq ft. Many major high street stores are looking for larger premises. Some local agents suggest the newly built Cribbs Causeway, near Bristol, England, has made the local authorities, in Bath, more aware of its retail market. There are plans to redevelop the 12.4 acre site encompassing the Southgate Centre. Local agents point out some 200 retail companies are looking for space in the city, despite competition from the new Cribbs Causeway.

A welcome new shop window

Article Abstract:

Business groups in Cumbria, England, are seeking to ensure that the county will benefit from the creation of the new Regional Development Agency for the North West. Cumbria has lost many jobs as a result of corporate restructuring, but it is hoped that 3,500 jobs will be created at the 185 acre Kingmoor Park north of Carlisle, England. In Carlisle itself, there is strong demand for leisure and retail property, with particular interest in large units.
